Mass Spectrometry Facility
Robert provides experimental and analytical support for the application of mass spectrometry ranging from high resolution protein identification to small molecule characterization and metabolomics. He has developed a variety of experimental methods for chromatographic separation and subsequent mass spectrometry based detection in order to further the scientific research being conducted in BioZone. He operates under the BioZone Mass Spectrometry Facility providing services to researchers both affiliated and not affiliated with the University of Toronto. Robert obtained an MSc in Biochemistry from the University of Toronto.
Robert provides project management support at BioZone, overseeing current and forthcoming large research projects. He brings experience in research, project management and financial accounting having held positions at McMaster University, Affinium Pharmaceuticals, University Health Network (Clinical Genomics Centre; Ontario Cancer Institute), Nobelex Biotech and University of Toronto (Structural Genomics Consortium; Civil and Mineral Engineering) prior to joining the organization. He is a co-author in over 40 peer-reviewed journal articles in solid state chemistry and structural biology. Robert obtained a PhD in Solid State Chemistry from the University of Alberta and recently completed a Certificate in Project Management from the University of Toronto. When not working, he enjoys photography, cooking and travelling.

Mass Spectrometry Facility Manager
Andrei provides technical support and expertise for the application of mass spectrometry to a wide range of biological and inorganic analyses, including high resolution protein identification and small molecules characterization. He has developed experimental methods for chromatographic separation of protein complexes and for organic low molecular structural determination. Andrei is responsible for training students and researchers on the use of LC and GC-MS techniques in chemistry and biology. He operates the Biozone mass spec facility on an open access basis and also supplies services to researchers not affiliated with University of Toronto.
Endang (Susie) Susilawati
Susie is an experienced researcher who joined BioZone in 2009, bringing a wealth of technical experience to the task of managing lab operations. She holds a Master’s degree in Crop and Soil Sciences from Michigan State University and was a researcher at the Indonesian Oil Palm Research Institute, where she worked on improving palm oil quality. Her more recent work focused on biodegradation of contaminated soil, sediment and wastewater in aerobic and anaerobic conditions.
Susie manages daily lab activiteis in BioZone and provides students and researcher with information regarding safety, training, supplies and ordering. She is responsible for the maintenance of shared equipment and student lab duties.
